Here at Oceanwide Properties we’re delighted with the large turn-out and enthusiastic response we received at last week’s Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun exhibition at Birmingham NEC.
We met with a number of new visitors keen to view Turkey properties and to learn of the superior and highly personalised service we can provide from our offices in London and Turkey. We were also thrilled to meet up with a number of past Oceanwide Properties clients, spending many a happy hour or two reminiscing about past sales, properties and locations.
Our own personal feedback from the show has indicated that potential buyers are more in favour of resale properties (the majority of which already come fully-furnished) rather than off-plan properties. Resale properties also tend to be more reliable since, unlike off-plan, teething problems have already been dealt with. As such we have decided to direct our focus towards the Turkish resale property market.
The exhibition at the weekend showcased apartments, villas and houses not just from Turkey’s resort areas and Istanbul, but also around the globe such as Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Florida. They ranged in price from £20,000 to more than £1million. The Channel 4 show’s presenters Amanda Lamb, Jasmine Harman, Jonnie Irwin and Laura Hamilton were also on hand to give advice and agree to pose for photographs.
Our director Suleyman Akbay (pictured) who attended the exhibition, said: “We were genuinely thrilled at the number of visitors we received to the Oceanwide Properties stand at A Place in the Sun last week. Certainly we’ve returned home to Turkey with a number of new applications to follow up. It was also great too to catch up with old faces, some of whom we hadn’t seen for a number of years.
“I think anyone would have enjoyed the show, even those not in the market for new property abroad – such was the buzz and tremendous atmosphere there. And, of course, that in turn proves how strong the overseas property market is at this moment in time.
“The value of exhibitions such as these for the prospective property buyer – or seller – abroad isn’t just about the huge variety of properties to view and the opportunity to showcase to thousands of potential buyers. Nor is it to do with information or even building up potential contacts. Really it’s more about peace of mind and knowing that the company you are dealing with is an established and reputable one – otherwise it certainly wouldn’t have been invited to exhibit in the first place.”
Organisers of the A Place in the Sun exhibition say they believe visitor numbers to the show were up 20 per cent on last year, although this is still to be confirmed. In total more than 150 agents and developers exhibited last week.
