Turkey has plenty to offer: friendly people, a growing economy, property for sale, and some of Europe’s best zoos. Whether you have children or not, discovering Turkey’s zoos is a wonderful experience.  If you are fortunate enough to own property in Turkey and reside here on a seasonal basis, or have recently relocated after investing in a Turkish property and now forming part of the growing expat community, consider a trip to one of these impressive zoos next time you find yourself looking to discover Turkey and all it has to offer:

Aquarium of Antalya
With ten thousands of ocean creatures, the Antalya Aquarium is one of the world’s biggest facilities of its type. And with its location in this prominent holiday and resort district, visiting this aquarium couldn’t be easier if you’re within travelling distance. The aquarium is well-known for its tunnel. This is an underwater space of 131 metres long by 3 metres wide where you can find interesting ocean life, or even opt to swim with dolphins or shark.  For kids, there is plenty of entertainment and activities – including educational ones – to keep them amused (and mum and dad happy).

Istanbul Zoo
With 2,000 animals and several gorgeous – not to mention unique – plants, Istanbul Zoo is another fab experience and well worth a visit. The entrance fee is reasonably small and there are so many animals to discover, from Persian leopards to Madagascar lemurs. Choose a summer day and head over to Istanbul Zoo – you could even stay over for some Istanbul bazaar shopping too, making that two delights in one day!

Istanbul Dolphinarium
If your family, like most, love the funny antics and cute antics of dolphins then do head over to one of Istanbul’s best loved entertainment centres: the Istanbul Dolphinarium. An entertainment park rather than a zoo or aquarium, this Dolphinarium offers fascinating fun and amusements for youngsters while giving parents much-needed time out. It’s possible to let the kids on the loose (such is the excellent supervision here) so that they can go play and interact with the seals,  dolphins, whales and massive walruses. And the best bit? Dolphin rides!

Izmir Zoo & Wildlife Park
On Turkey’s Aegean Coast sits Izmir Zoo & Wildlife Park in which there are more than 1,300 animals. The Izmir zoo is really getting back to nature since all animals here roam in huge quarters, with no confined spaces in site. This wildlife park is an important education and conservational facility in Turkey so it’s always good, we feel here at Oceanwide Properties,  to provide support for its ethical aims and goals.

Turkey’s zoos are among the greatest in the world. Find the one closest to your Turkey property and head out for a day of nature and outdoors fun. If you are currently holidaying in Turkey but keen to research the idea of investing in a holiday home out here then please do come and have a chat with us here at Oceanwide Properties Turkey. We’d be happy to help.
