Focus on Dalaman

Buying a property in Turkey can be a complicated experience for those not familiar with the country’s purchasing process and laws. But even more nerve-wracking can be the prospect of buying somewhere that you later turn out to dislike. That’s why, at Oceanwide Properties Turkey we would always advise you spend at least one holiday in your chosen resort. In this post we’re going to look at one of those popular areas – Dalaman.

Dalyan-Dalaman

A district and a village, Dalaman sits on Turkey’s south west coast in the province known as Mugla. Dalaman is near the coast rather than the mountainous regions of Turkey and as such, enjoys a cooling sea breeze that escapes the higher plains. Well-known for its red roofs and abundant shops, bars and restaurants, it remains one of the European or Asian tourist’s go-to areas.

Dalaman enjoys the facilities of an international airport just 3.4 miles from the farming village of Dalaman (with Turkish Airlines flying daily) which makes it an incredibly easy resort to get to and hence explains its popularity amongst holidaymakers in particular.

The local economy enjoys the fruits of its labours (quite literally since these tend to be citrus-related).

The Turquoise Coast

The stunning Olu Deniz beach, with its pure white sands, bluey green waters and secluded coves is the beautiful stretch of sand and sea you see on Turkish tourist posters, and is Dalaman’s pride and joy. It’s surrounded by the greenery and sweet smells of pine trees, as well as cafes, restaurants and bars to ensure visitors can have an entire day and night there.

Nearby Calis beach is popular with locals due to its less touristy aspect. It’s a shingle beach but still pleasant to wile away a morning or afternoon at.

Areas to Stay in the Region of Dalaman

Marmaris has plenty of night clubs and evening entertainment for the young and lively. So too does nearby Hisaronu. And both resorts also enjoy a lively vibe during day light hours. In Dalaman itself the well-heeled can enjoy a week or two at the plush five-star Hilton Dalaman Golf Resort and Spa.

Weather in Dalaman

Dalaman enjoys a Mediterranean climate which means lots of lovely, warm summers (an average of around 35 celcius with very little rain from June through to September and 10 hours of sunshine every day during those summer months). The winters are also very mild (around five hours of sunshine from November to February) which cements Dalmain’s choice as a popular all-year round holiday resort.
