Investing in a Turkish Rental Property

tn_1

For some time now you’ve been considering buying a second home abroad to rent out during the peak holiday season and you’ve settled on a Turkey property.

Aegean properties prove popular for their holiday let potential

That’s a very good decision considering property in the country is inexpensive in comparison to its Mediterranean neighbours, not to mention the fact the Turkish government are loosening the red tape and making it far easier for non-Turkish citizens to invest in property in Turkey. So much so, in fact, that the Turkish government is actively encouraging foreign nationals by running their own marketing campaign and which is due to launch within the next few months.

However, renting a property abroad can be complicated too in the sense that it’s not simply a case of choosing a property, attaching a ‘For Rent’ sign on it and sitting back waiting to be swamped by guests.

There’s a number of considerations to ponder over before you even start flicking through the brochure or websites for a property for sale in Kalkan, Fethiye etc.

For instance, do consider how you’re going to manage that property if you’re living back in the UK. This is where a company such as our own Oceanwide Properties Turkey comes in, of course – we can remove the worry of running your property rental business in return for a small management fee.

Research, Research, Research

Not only will we help you manage your Turkey property, but we’ll also assist you in finding that property in the first place.

Certainly we’d encourage you to come out to Turkey and view properties first-hand to get a feel for them and to understand even the basic plumbing and heating in your new home. That way you’ll know exactly what your guests are referring to if anything was to need fixing. You’ll also be able to advise them on the best restaurants to go to, which bars they’ll be able to hear traditional Turkish music in, and where to find delicious local delicacies.

Check out the competition too. This isn’t just handy for when it comes to settling on how much you’re going to charge guests for staying in your Turkey property, but also to find out the type of facilities guests expect these days and whether you can make your holiday home even more appealing than the competition by offering something extra eg making sure to order fresh flowers prior to their arrival, leaving little chocolates on the bedside cabinet or a good bottle of Turkish wine to welcome them?

The extra thought gone into this type of unexpected gift can lead to lots of goodwill and the type of thing guests will mention when writing a review of your Turkish holiday rental property. And, in fact, a good way to find out what holiday home rental guests are looking for in a property is to check out websites such as TripAdvisor and other property forums.
