Sovalye Island is a small idylic dream setting with amazing seaviews and golden sunsets, part of a chain of 12 Islands, Sovalye is one of the very few that are inhabited, this island has private mouring for its residents as there are no roads and therefor no cars, you can walk the entire island in less an hour making this not only exclusive, but incredibly peacful, a true haven of island life in which many desire to spend their days.

Anyone who lives in or near Fethiye knows that you can travel to and from the island by water taxi, a small boat that leaves Calis beach regularly for a small cost is the perfect way to first introduce you to this magical place. The history of the island adds to its presence in the bay as it was a look out spot for the main town of fethiye and hundreds of years ago if there was ever a threat to the town or an unknown ship entered the bay fires would be lit on the island as a warning.

As you walk along the single track path, that ambles through the pine trees, you will come across the remnants of a monastery/crusader castle, built by the knights of Saint John, once an almighty structure that dominated the skyline, and later rumoured to be used by Knights that turned rougue as pirates as a base for sailing and plundering the nearby seas. There are also a few tell tale signs from the roman era.

Sovalya Island which translates into Knights Island can clearly be seen on the historical map made by Piri Reis, an ottoman admiral, navigator and cartographer, (B 1465 D 1553) Peri Reis was a world renown cartographer and his maps of the early Americas are amoungst the oldest in existence today.

From the Island looking towards Fethiye, you can clearly see the Amintas tombs carved into the mountain behind the town, the tombs are lit up at night, giving the island an amazing sight from all angles, with distant mountain views and incredible sunsets, owning a home here would definately inspire the soul.

The island has a small hotel and a restaurant, but your weekly/monthly groceries and needs would be bought on to the island by boat. The island has access to electricity and WiFi, providing the villas with all the creature comforts of modern life.

We have a beautiful property for sale which is nestled on the waters edge, so if waking up to the sound of the waves lapping aginst the shingles in your own back garden is something that you find appealing then maybe this home is perfect for you.
