Turkish AirlinesTurkish Airlines (THY) is set for further expansion this year, with the planned launch of a new aviation services complex at Sabiha Gokcen Airport, 30 kilometers from Ataturk Airport.

Across Europe and the Middle East, Turkish airlines already flies to the most destinations nonstop from a single airport – offering direct flights to 189 destinations from Istanbul, 15 more than Lufthansa offers from its giant hub in Frankfurt.

Recent figures released by airline route-tracking site, anna.aero, additionally show THY passenger numbers have tripled over the 10 years to 2010, with significantly increased traffic to North America and Asia. Half of THY’s customers are flying between 43 domestic airports across Turkey.

THY plans to run its maintenance and repair station at the new complex, and has also announced it intends to venture into aircraft-seat manufacture there.

As Turkey`s upwardly-mobile population continues to migrate towards key industrial and business areas, savvy property hunters will be keeping location in mind when looking to buy property in Turkey.
