Surrounded by Incredible Mountain Views – Seydikemer

Just 30 kilometres inland from Fethiye, southern Turkey, is the town of Seydikemer. Surrounded by the Taurus Mountains, Seydikemer undeniably still has a very rural feel to it. With captivating views in all directions it is easy to see why it has attracted a fast growing ex-pat community who chose to buy their dream home here.

Prior to 2012, there were two towns adjacent to each other, Seydiler and Kemer. Due to the population exceeding 750,000 the decision was made in due time to officially combine them into a planned district and second level municipality.

Running through the centre of town is the Esen River which also has the local names of Esen çeyı and Kocaçay and it is upon the banks of this river that the town has its origins. From small farms and homesteads living a simple life, with water as the key component, to the town we see today.

Its proximity to Fethiye means that all conveniences of modern life are easily accessed, as are the beaches of Calis, Patara and Oludeniz. As Seydikemer itself is inland you can enjoy a more relaxed slightly slower pace of life. Buying a Property in Seydikemer means you can have the very best of both worlds.

Much Needed Additions

Recently the centre of Seydikemer has seen much growth and the local council building was officially opened in 2021. There is also a new 150-bed hospital in the process of being built, covering an area of 31,720,19m², construction started on the 21st of April 2020 and is expected to be up and running by 21st of March 2022. With modern architecture and state-of-the-art medical equipment, this is a much-needed addition, not only to Seydikemer but to the whole region.  There is also a large, well-equipped sports hall/centre.

At the heart of the village, there is a great variety of shops, a few small supermarkets, and some great family-run, centrally located restaurants, it seems that everyone who visits the village ends up at one of them, enjoying each others company whilst eating delicious food.

Seydikemer has everything you could possibly need, it still has the feeling of not being a highly built-up area. There is still the sweet atmosphere of village life at a slower pace to daily living.
